As you can see from the
photographs The Cornemuse (Bagpipes in French) is not
simply what it appears from the outside. On entering
there is a bar and to the right a bistrad / restaurant
area which extends onto a mezzanine floor overlooking
the concert room. The recently modernised and extended
kitchen is to the rear of the bar but the main cooking
is done on the open wood burning barbeque / grill in the
restaurant area.
On the lower ground
floor, stairs lead down from the bar, is the self
contained concert / function room with its own large
bar, stage, stage lighting and sound system. The concert
room will hold up to 250 making it large enough to
attract high quality artists and bands. Currently the
room is used mainly for traditional music and discos and
only generally on Saturday nights, with a little
imagination this room could be utilised much more than
at present.
Moving upstairs the
first floor is kept for the owners private
accommodation. The living accommodation comprises of a
large living room, American style kitchen, bathroom with
shower and bath, 2 bedrooms and an office.
The second floor is
currently used as overnight accommodation for the
musicians in the bands who have travelled a distance to
play, there are 4 bedrooms, 2 en-suite, and a separate
bathroom.
